Ross Wignell Is Camberwell Basketball’s CEO and also Basketball Director. He was the 2001 – 2013 Head Coach of the Victorian Metropolitan’s National Intensive Training Program, State Director of Coaching, and Basketball Victoria’s Operations Manager. Ross has worked with many junior basketball players that have experienced very successful basketball careers. These camps are designed to assist the player’s basketball development process and will cover the important fundamentals of the game, providing the individual with the teachings required for them to make improvement to their game.

11 April 2023 Domestic Development Camp, catering for all Junior Domestic Basketball Players born 2009 to 2015.
If you are currently playing basketball for a club at the Domestic level, you are invited to register for the Domestic Development Camp.
This camp will further educate all players and assist development in correct technique for shooting, ball handling, defence and passing. Many drills including game like situations throughout this one-day camp will be on offer. Games will be played which will enable coaches to discuss necessary improvements with the player.
This Camp is to be Head Coached by Matt Power. Currently coaching in the Dragons VJBL U14 girls’ program, Matt is the Head Coach of Camberwell’s Aussie Hoops Program. Matt has coached at several levels throughout Camberwell’s programs and is a regular coach at these camps. He has developed as a player, progressing through the Dragons system, and represented Victoria in 2021. He is a squad member of the Dragons BigV Youth League Men’s team. Matt has been consistently developing junior Dragons player’s skill level at Camberwell.
The camp will involve lots of teaching and lots of fun. The camp content will include drills and plenty of tips to help participants recognise parts of the game they need to practice which in time will improve their playing performance.

12 April 2023 Domestic Shooting & Defence Camp. Catering for all Junior Domestic Basketball Players born 2009 to 2015.
If you are playing basketball for a club at the Domestic level, you are most welcome to register for the Domestic Shooting & Defence Camp.
We will teach and assist athletes to develop their correct shooting and defence technique. From precise feet positioning to bending of knees, fingers and hand placement on the basketball and follow through, shooting the ball from receiving a pass or off the dribble, everything shooting will be covered.
Defence will also be a major focus. Correct footwork and hand positioning, on-ball, denial, and more than one pass away defence will be taught and drilled.

13 & 14 April 2023, U12 REPRESENTATIVE DEVELOPMENT CAMP.
This Camp is designed to assist the player’s basketball development process. The two – day camp will cover the important fundamentals of the game in a competitive environment. It will provide the individual player with the teachings required for them to make improvement to their game. Drills will be included to aid the development of a player’s ballhandling, passing, defence, offence and shooting, rebounding and team play.
The two day camp will allow for all of the teaching points that will be covered in drill format to be practiced and executed in various game situations.
All Representative basketball players born 2012 to 2014 playing VJBL Junior Representative basketball are welcome to attend.
This Camp is to be Head Coached by Jaden Lai, the 2022 Boys’ Program Coach of the Year, Jaden is the U12.1 Boys Camberwell Dragons Head Coach. He has been a coach in the Pre-Dragons Academy and the Dragons Development Squad for several years. Developing as a player progressing through the Dragons Program and a current member of the Dragons Youth Men’s team, in recent years Jaden has been consistently developing junior Dragons player’s skill level at Camberwell.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT: U14 Representative Development Camp
This Camp is to be Head Coached by Conor Mathews. The Camberwell Dragons U14/1 Boys Head Coach, Conor was named the 2021 Dragons Coach of the year for the boys side of the program. He is a very good young coach, relates well with the players he works with and persists at helping juniors further develop their game. Conor is currently a member of the Dragons Youth League Men’s team.
With very much an individual skill development focus, this two – day camp will assist the player’s basketball development process. At an expected high intensity level, the camp participants will receive the required knowledge for what they need to continue to work on to advance their basketball game.
The two day camp will allow for all of the teaching points that will be covered in drill format to be practiced and executed in various game situations.

TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT: CAMBERWELL DOMESTIC DEVELOPMENT CAMP
Catering for all Junior Domestic Basketball Players born 2009 to 2015. If you are playing basketball for a club at the Domestic level, you are most welcome to register for the Domestic Development Camp. This Camp is to be Head Coached by Ben Crowe. Ben is the CDBA Community Development Officer and currently a player with the Dragons Big V Men’s Championship team. Ben is frequently visiting schools and domestic clubs conducting basketball clinics and furthering development and basketball education within the community.
