Ross Wignell Is Camberwell Basketball’s CEO and Basketball Director. He was the 2001-2013 Head Coach of the Victorian Metropolitan’s National Intensive Training Program, State Director of Coaching and Basketball Victoria’s Operations Manager.  Ross has worked with many junior players who’ve gone on to experience very successful basketball careers. CDBA REPRESENTATIVE SHOOTING CAMP | WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27
– All you need to know –

Shooting the ball correctly is the most important skill you need to master to play basketball.

This camp will encourage correct shooting technique and allow for repetition while being coached.

Set shooting, shooting off a pass and off the dribble will be drilled, along with various layups required by players as they advance in age level.

The competitive element to this camp will come as we add defence to test the player’s shooting ability.

Offensive players will be taught how to get free of their opponent and to score.

1-on-1, 2-on-2, 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 competition will feature at this camp.

This camp is for all junior domestic basketball players born between 2009-2015 who love the game and are keen to become better players.

If you’re playing basketball at a domestic club, you are welcome to register for this camp.

The camp will further educate all players and assist their development in correct technique for shooting ball handling, defence, passing and game play. Many drills, including game-like situations, will be on offer.

Games will be played, which will enable coaches to discuss necessary improvements with the player.

Your head coach for this camp will be Liam O’Hoy. Liam coaches in Camberwell Dragons Under 16 Boys program, is a member of the club’s Youth League squad and is an experienced camp coach and junior domestic coach.

This camp will feature lots of teaching and lots of fun. Content will include drills and plenty of tips to help participants recognise part of the game they need to practise to improve their playing performance.

Conor was named Dragons Coach of the Year for the Boys program in 2021. He is a very good young coach who relates well with the players he works with and persists at helping juniors develop their game.

Conor also plays for the Dragons Youth League Men’s team.

At this camp, we’ll teach and assist athletes to develop their correct shooting technique. Everything shooting will be covered, including:

This camp will feature game-like situations and will focus on preparing participants to try out for Camberwell Dragons.

Your head coach for this camp is Matt Power, who coaches in the Dragons Under 14 Girls program and is the head coach of Camberwell’s Aussie Hoops program.

Matt has coached at a number of levels in the Dragons program and is a regular coach at these camps.

He represented Victoria in 2021, played for the Dragons Youth League Men’s team this season, and has also coached in Basketball Victoria’s Development programs.

If you’re playing basketball for a Domestic club, you’re welcome to register for this camp.

This one-day camp will teach and assist athletes to develop their correct shooting and defensive technique.

Defence will also be a major focus. Correct footwork and hand positioning, on-ball, denial and more than one-pass-away defence will be taught and drilled.

This two-day camp will provide plenty of variety, with four head coaches working with players over the two days.There will be many drills taught covering various aspects of the game, as coaches share their teaching methods with players. Each coach will spend a morning or afternoon leading a session, sharing their knowledge in educating, working with and developing players.

Your head coaches for this camp are:

Danni Fidge – Camberwell Dragons Women’s Big V Women’s Youth League head coach and head coach of the Dragons’ Under 16.1 Girls. Danni was the Dragons’ Big V Women’s Division 1 head coach in 2021.

Michael Dimattina – Camberwell Dragons Girls Director of Coaching and Dragons Big V Championship Women’s head coach. Michael has a wealth of knowledge gained from a great playing and coaching career.

Oliver Reid – Camberwell Dragons Big V Championship Men’s head coach. Olly is a full-time basketball coach and takes pride in developing the individual aspect of the player’s game.

Fraser Kennedy – Camberwell Dragons Big V Youth Men’s head coach and Dragons Boys Under 18.2 coach. Fraser is continually coaching players during the week, helping them improve.

This camp will allow for all teaching points the coaches cover to be drilled and practised, allowing for execution in various game situations.

Camberwell District Basketball Association’s June-July school holiday camp schedule is set, and it’s an action-packed one!

Opening with the two-day Representative Winter Central Camp on June 26-27, the program rolls through both weeks of the holidays, and offers something for everyone.

Whether you’re looking to clean up your crossover or refine your shot on the road to the VJBL finals, or simply wanting to add something to your game to help you shine on a Saturday, you’ll find what you need here:
