WEEK 2 FINALS RECAP!!! – SUNDAY AUGUST 9TH

The Senior Women are still in the Big V playoffs with an impressive victory against the Latrobe City Energy, and now progress into their first ever Preliminary Final.

Camberwell defeated Latrobe City – 82 – 75

The women have kept their finals chances alive with a solid performance against the dangerous Latrobe City Energy. In what was a great performance by the Dragons, the were able to take a 7 point victory, and advance to a Preliminary Final next week against the Whittlesea Pacers.

It was a tight first period, with the dragons down by 2 at the first break. But in a dominating 2 quarters of basketball, the Dragons put on 47 points to the Energy’s 22, and took a 23 point lead into the 4th. Latrobe City never gave up and fought back to within single digits, but the experience of many Dragons player got them over the line, and into the next round.

Rachael Wansbrough (20 points, 11 rebounds) and Holly Greene (16 points, 9 rebounds, 12 assists, 5 steals) were both fantastic and played a big part in the victory, and coach Justin Nelson had to be happy with the performance of his whole team, with 5 players scoring in double digits.

That means that next week the Lady Dragons head to Mill Park Basketball Stadium on Saturday night at 8pm for a clash against the Whittlesea Pacers. The winner of this match secures a place in the Championship round. Its going to be a massive game and we getting right behind the Women as they look to keep their finals dream alive.
