Ruthless Dragons fire in eighth straight win
Rachael Smith, Ryleh Killian and Sophie Jones posted double-doubles as visiting Camberwell routed Craigieburn at the weekend to remain unbeaten in Big V Youth League One Women play.
The Dragons made short work of their host in their Pink Round match-up and were never headed on their way to an 86-38 win, and their eighth straight victory.
Camberwell led 38-24 at the half and then found another gear after the break, outscoring Craigieburn 48-14 over the last 20 minutes.
Killian had 22 points, 14 rebounds and three steals to lead the Dragons, Smith added 11 points, 17 boards and five assists, and Jones had 11 rebounds to go with 10 points and four steals.
Megan Walshe finished with 11 points in just under nine minutes for Camberwell and was 3-of-3 from the three-point line.
It was another huge night on the boards for the Dragons, who reeled in 63 rebounds – 25 of them on the offensive glass.
In other Dragons Big V action at the weekend, Keysborough came from a long way back to beat our Championship Men’s team at Balwyn High School, 85-80, our Championship Women’s lost 93-71 on the road against Sherbrooke, and Geelong United had too much for our Youth League One Men’s team at Balwyn High.
