Camberwell Dragons VS Hawthorn Magic

The Bendigo Bank Cup
The ‘Bendigo Bank Cup’ will be on the line when the Division One teams from Camberwell and Hawthorn go into battle to hold onto the cup and bragging rights in the fierce Boroondara rivalry.

Dragons fans we need your support to get our Women’s and Men’s team across the line on Sunday 16th June @ Balwyn High School.

Div 1 Women
Dragons had it all their way when these teams meet back in Round 1, the Dragons coming away victors on the night 49 to 38. The women’s team coached by Brian Vaughns will be looking to get back on the winners list after a crushing defeat from Whittlesea. With the women tied for 3rd position every game of the 7 remaining rounds count. It will be sweet to have a clean sweep against Magic this year for the women. Emily Verey and Elyce Lambrou, past Magic players will combine with the Dragon regulars Zanelle Marama and Prue Ainsworth supported by the deep bench Coach Vaughns will have on the night.

Div 1 Men
It seems a long time ago when the Magic easily walked over our Dragons 80 to 65. This time there will be a lot more fire on court from the Dragons as we will look to put a stop to the Magic taking a win from the Dragons again. It is a very important round as we sit 7th on the Watson Conference but with big wins over Blackburn, Craigieburn and ladder leaders McKinnon, the Magic will be in for a big suprise compared to round 1. Chris Lynch, Damon Lowery and Ash Bryar will combine with the ever improving Liam Dobson and Madhuk to do everything possible to get the win and the Bendigo Bank Cup. C. Lynch was missing last time these two teams met, and he will be out to continue his amazing form averaging 28pts & 9 boards in the last 4 games.

Over the past two years this rivalry has grow into an exciting exhibition of the top players from the two neighboring suburbs. Grab a sausage and drink from the BBQ and come in and support your Dragons on Sunday, both teams will not disappoint.
