Senior Women

Camberwell vs. Latrobe City – Sun 12pm @ Balwyn High School.

Its going to be a huge day for the Dragons. Starting at 12 Noon, the Senior Women lay it all on the line in an elimination final against the Latrobe City Energy. The winner secures a place in the Preliminary Final. In what is a massive game for both teams, with so much to fight for, the Camberwell Dragons will look to bounce back from their heartbreaking 2 point loss last week.

The Dragons have met Latrobe City twice this season, splitting both games. The first, back in May on the energy’s home floor, where the Dragons went down by 7 points in a tough fought match. The second matchup was just 3 weeks ago with the Dragons taking a comfortable 23 point victory at Balwyn High School. But this match will be a lot more difficult than that.

Latrobe are coming off a huge win, defeating Mildura in Mildura, the toughest road trip in the Big V. The Dragons were one shot away from a Preliminary Final last week, going down to Geelong by 2 points. They will need to be at their absolute best come this Sunday. Look for Holly Greene, Rachael Wansbrough and Sarah Stone to lead the charge as the Dragons put it all on the line, and look to continue their run deep into the Big V Playoffs.

Head Coach Justin Nelson had this to say about the game:

“This division delivered two games decided by low margins last week, it’s a tough competition and every possession counts. We need to shoot a bit better this week against Latrobe and make sure we stick to our game plan. The Energy is a good unit, so once again we’re expecting a really close contest that will go down to the final few minutes.”
