Big V Finals | Dragons YLM @ Geelong

Matt Power and the Dragons will open their Big V finals campaign on the road in Geelong this weekend after closing the Youth League One Men regular season in fifth place.

Power (pictured) finished with a 16-point, 14-rebound double-double yesterday as Camberwell ended its regular season with a 101-62 road win against Coburg.

The Dragons improved to 15-7 – the same record as Sherbrooke and Geelong United – but had to settle for fifth place after losing out on the tiebreaker.

So now a trip down the highway to Geelong Arena on Saturday afternoon (6pm) awaits Camberwell, which is 1-1 against Geelong United this season.

United had too much for its host in a 75-67 road win at Balwyn High School back in Round 7, but the Dragons struck back with an 84-61 road win at Geelong Arena earlier this month.

Jackson Dean led his team in that one with a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double and was one of four double-digit scorers for Camberwell, which piled on 50 points in the second half.

Wyndham and Hume have first-round finals byes this week after finishing first and second respectively, while third-placed Sherbrooke hosts Keysborough on Saturday night (8pm).
