Youth League Women Grand Final

After a massive victory on Sunday afternoon for the Youth League women, the Dragon’s have advanced to the grand final. The girls have been a championship contender since the beginning of the year and have solidified there status as the team to beat by finishing with the leagues best record, gaining home court for the grand final.

The youth league women will become the second Dragon’s senior team to make the last game of the year, the first women team after the youth men won it a couple of years ago. They will look to bring Camberwell its maiden women championship after participating in the Big V for 8 years.

The Camberwell Dragons take on the Sunbury Jets with the head to head record standing at 2-1 in favour of the Dragons. The first encounter was back in May at Balwyn High School where the Dragons took a 3 point victory thanks to a Michelle West game winning shot. They met again a few weeks later at Balwyn High School, with the Dragons taking another victory, this time by 8 points. The third meeting of the game was on Sunbury’s home floor with the Jets taking a 7 point victory.

This will be a game of polar opposites, with Sunbury Jets having the best offensive statistics, averaging 68 points scored per game, and the Dragons the best defence, holding opponents to an average of just 48 points per game. With all the games this year decided by an average of 8 points, we can expect another close encounter with everything on the line.

Last week the Dragons Lair was packed wall to wall, and was an amazing day for all involved so make sure you get down to Balwyn High School, Sunday, 2PM and support the Camberwell Dragons as they look to close out the season strongly and deliver the club a championship.
