YL semi finals

This Sunday at the Dragons Lair will be history making for the club. Camberwell Dragons Basketball Association is extremely proud of what the coaching staff and playing group have been able to achieve in the clubs first season in Youth League. Everyone but Camberwell supporters would have never had thought the new team would have gone 16 and 4, 3 games clear of everyone else. This is a massive achievement in it’s own regards, congratulations to everyone that has made this season possible and supported these talented young players.

This weekend the Dragons will take on the Warrandyte Venom in what’s sure to be a firery semi final knock out clash. Finishing top of the table secured a home court advantage for the finals as the boys will be looking to advance to the grand final in their first season in the competition.

The two teams met only two weeks ago with the Dragons winning by 11 points on the Venoms home floor. The 2 matches this year between these sides have been decided by less than 11 points, with both wins going the Dragons way and they will look to make it 3 from 3 on Sunday Afternoon.

The Dragons are an offensive juggernaut lead by Mark Jeffers dishing out assists all over the court to Matt Barr and Pete Maunder who will look to shoot beyond the arc and off the dribble. John Young and Mark Fernandez will clean up the glass. Regardless if the starting unit doesn’t fire, coach Fields has proven throughout the season he has the deepest bench in the competition, whatever Warrandyte throw at him he’ll be comfortable he can counter act.

Tip off is at midday THIS Sunday. Dragons fans make sure you come down early as it will be a sell out. Finals atmosphere is going to be huge and you don’t want to miss this one.

We wish both teams the best of luck on Sunday with winner advancing to the Grand Final the week after.
