Dimattina steps away from CW

Camberwell Dragons thank Michael Dimattina for his work as head coach of our Big V Championship Women’s team.

Michael has stepped away from the role to spend more time working with the club’s exciting crop of junior talent, and today reflected on a “rewarding” two seasons with the team.

“A big thank you to Ross Wignell and the Dragons organisation for giving me the opportunity to coach the Senior Women team over the past two seasons,” he said.

“It has been a rewarding experience, highlighted by the promotion of the team from Division 1 to the Championship Division of Big V. Thanks to all the players whose energy and application made the team so enjoyable to coach.

“Special thanks to Dre, Gemma and Marnie, who served as team captains over the past two years and led with so much enthusiasm and dedication. To Jen Rushgrove, whose humour, support and loyalty was greatly appreciated among the team. To Robyn, who worked in the background looking after all the team managing duties, and to Ben Wardlaw and the scorebench team who ran game day with so much enthusiasm.”

CDBA chief executive officer Ross Wignell today recognised Michael’s work with the Senior Women’s team.

“On behalf of the Camberwell Dragons, I thank Michael for his contribution, commitment and dedication to the Senior Women’s team and the wider Dragons program over the past two seasons,” Wignell said.

“We look forward to him being part of the Dragons community for many years to come.”

Michael will continue in his role as Director of Coaching of the Dragons Girls program and is now focused on helping the club’s emerging junior players to be the best they can be.

“I’m looking forward to spending more time in the junior development area,” he said. “I am enjoying my involvement with the club and look forward to continuing to contribute to the growth of the program.”
