Mother Day Game
Well done Dragons! Last weekend Dragon raised $439 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation for the research into the prevention and cure of breast cancer. Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting women. In 2013, it is estimated that 14,940 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
We would like to say thank-you to everyone from the Dragons, but also the wider basketball community who supported us is raising money for this great foundation.
Bec Wegener and her mother kindly donated a wonderful Mother’s Day hamper which was raffled on Friday night at Balwyn High School during the VJBL games and again on Sunday at the Youth League game. Congratulations to Conor Mathews, who was the luckily winner of the hamper. I’m sure it made a wonderful Mother’s Day gift.
Thank-you to family and friends of the Dragons and Melton Thoroughbreds who came out and supported the Youth League game as all door takings went straight to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Although it wasn’t a win for our boys, they sit in a very healthy 2nd position on the ladder. Make sure you come along to a game this year to show your support but also be amazed how skilled these players are.
A special thank-you goes to Georgia Wilson as game day coordinator, Chen Lay Hwa, Anne Billinghurst & Tania McKay score bench, all mums of Dragons players who gave up their time on Mother’s Day.
We hope all mums had a great day last Sunday. Happy Mother’s Day from the Dragons.
