Mathews, Lai to present June 19 Coaches Clinic

Camberwell Dragons age group Head Coaches Conor Mathews and Jaden Lai will present Camberwell District Basketball Association’s (CDBA) “Long-Term Offensive Skill Development” Coaches Clinic at Canterbury Girls Secondary College on June 19.

Conor is Head Coach of our Under 14 Boys program and will lead our Under 14.1 Boys team at next week’s National Junior Classic tournament in Melbourne. He is captain of Camberwell’s Big V Youth League Men’s team.

Jaden heads up our Under 12 Boys program, coaches our 12.1 Boys team, and plays alongside Conor on the Dragons’ Youth League team.

About Conor Mathews:
Conor is in his eighth season as a coach at Camberwell … started as an assistant coach in 2015 with the club’s Under 12.1 Boys … was Head Coach of the Under 12 Boys program for six years … In his second season as Head Coach of the Under 14 Boys program … captain of the Dragons’ Big V Youth League Men’s team … Has a great passion for individual skill development … Works at No Limits Basketball as Head of Performance, overseeing its Athletic Development Program … Skill-enhancement coach with No Limits since 2017 … Has a vested interest in building skills from the ground up – progressing each skill from its foundation to the elite level – and finding ways to make skill development for players a fun and engaging part of your team training as a coach, or their own practice regimen.

About Jaden Lai:
Jaden is in his fifth year of coaching in the Under 12 Boys program at Camberwell and his second as Head Coach of the Under 12s … Has been part of the Basketball Victoria State Development program, and is a No Limits Skill Development coach, where he develops individual skills and concepts for athletes … Participated in the 2022 National Junior Classic as a coach … Plays for the Dragons’ Big V Youth League Men’s team … Has a passion for developing basketball athletes at all ages and levels … Has an elite understanding of the progression of skills, and applying skills in game situations.

The Long-Term Offensive Skill Development clinic is the fifth in our series of clinics in 2023 for Domestic and Representative Coaches, with our presenters already this year including Darren Perry, Oliver Reid, Michael Dimattina and Al McAughtry.
